We are a multidisciplinary department that offers degrees in three main academic areas. All our courses of study allow you to develop visual literacy and acquire the analytical and research skills required to conceptualize, fabricate, and evaluate works of art and design.

Art History Bus Trip to the Detroit Art Institute
Thanks to the generosity of the department and a TBC grant, as well as coordination by Professor Rosenberg, we were able to charter a 38-seat bus to go to Detroit on Feb. 3 to see the exhibition “Rembrandt and the Face of Jesus.”

Industrial Design faculty member Ann-Marie Conrado published the article 'Crafting Economic Opportunity: Design for Fair Trade Artisans' in Innovation, the quarterly journal of the Industrial Designers Society of America.

Bre Stakowski, ME/ID 2013, was awarded Honorable Mention and a cash prize in the highly contested 2012 International Housewares Association 19th Annual Student Design Competition.

Art History MA Sophia Meyers returns as guest curator for Snite Exhibition
Art History MA (2010) Sophia Meyers is returning to the University of Notre Dame to serve as guest curator in the Snite Museum of Art exhibition Artist in Residence: Working Drawings by Luigi Gregori (1819 - 1896).
