Prof. Joyner’s current research focuses on how aspects of time, an intangible phenomenon, are given shape and form in different genres of manuscript imagery. She is examining the twelfth-century “Hortus Deliciarum,” a manuscript made for the female community of canonnesses at Hohenbourg, and draws from, among others, astronomical, biblical, calendrical, and classical visual and textual traditions.
Twice each semester, a Medieval Institute faculty member or advanced graduate student presents his or her research for collegial discussion in the MI Research Colloquium series.
A short reception will follow the lecture.
