Lecture by Mishoe Brennecke, associate professor of art history, University of the South
Brennecke will discuss the career challenges faced by women artists in the late nineteenth century, such as Mary Cassatt and Berthe Morisot who are featured in the Cassatt and Beyond exhibitions. A reception will follow.

Abigail May Alcott’s tribute to the artist’s talent is also a reminder that Cassatt’s gender was a defining, and sometimes limiting, element in her career.
