"ARTE PAÑO CONTEMPORANEO: A TRADITION REVIVED" is a national art exhibit program curated by and a product of a short residency with the Instituto De Nuestra Cultura (INC.), founded by Chicago artist, Jesús Macarena-Ávila. INC. means “our institute of culture” and affirms the idea that culture is best served when it is passed as a tradition from one generation to the next. The artwork,"arte paño" (handkerchief art), focuses on various themes, such as art as activism, gender, immigration, multiculturalism, and popular culture.

Exhibitors include: DeSoto High School (DeSoto, MO); Eric J. Garcia (Chicago, IL.); Rudy "Link" Gonzales (Hammond, IN.); Jesús Macarena-Ávila (Chicago, IL.); Star Padilla (Honolulu, HI) and Fabio Rodriguez (St. Louis, MO)
