This body of work investigates the relevance of drawing by addressing linear perspective, visual perception, and ornamentation. I question the representation of space and its cultural understanding by presenting linear perspective outside of its normal context and reversing its normal function. My work also explores Western conventions and traditions by revisiting the original meaning of ornaments through their transformation from petrified/stony patterns back into natural, organic forms. The nature of pattern and ornamentation, as bearers of meaning and pure visual pleasure, becomes the main theme that organizes my work.
