M.F.A. in Visual Communication Design

Heather TuckerHeather Tucker, Body Language, MFA Review 2018

Program

Graduate students in residence, pursuing a three-year M.F.A. degree, define their place in the contemporary stream of design through independent study and interdisciplinary research. Progress is evaluated through weekly design group critiques, combined studio walkthroughs, and studio faculty reviews. Studio design presentations commence with the “New Faces” show in the AAHD Gallery and conclude with the M.F.A. Thesis Show in the O’Shaughnessy Gallery of the Snite Museum of Art.

Facilities

All graduate students are allocated a spacious, secure, and well-appointed studio space that provides PC, Mac, and UNIX network access. Design students share the advantages of a campus that is rich in contemporary technology and still retains a deep appreciation for a heritage of traditional human values and wisdom. Technically advanced lecture rooms and digital labs support all student design activities. One eighteen-station Mac lab and one ten-station SGI lab share campus network with a complete range of facilities for color or black and white input and output. Additional hardware and software available to graduate design students include cd burners, digital cameras, and the most current computer applications recognized in the industry.
