The Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts at IU South Bend will present a historical exhibition of community artwork in January. The exhibit titled “Local Perspectives: Art in the South Bend Area (1850-2000)” will open on Monday, Jan. 6 and run through Saturday, Jan. 25 in the Art Gallery of the Education and Arts Building on campus.

Connect with this community’s vibrant artistic legacy with this exhibition presenting 150 years of masterful, richly varied artistic accomplishment, including many of the most notable figures who have lived and worked in the region. The exhibit will feature work from public and private collections, including a selection of work that has not been available for public consumption.

“Local Perspectives” is presented in conjunction with a new history of regional arts, artists, and arts institutions being published by IU South Bend’s Wolfson Press. This project has garnered great community support from its inception, and will be met with fantastic enthusiasm as the project reaches completion.
