Jason Lahr’s paintings are a mash-up of popular culture imagery, casual quip texts, and a diverse deployment of painterly styles including hard-edge bit-like abstract, exacting trompe l’oeil, and the crude styles of metal band logos. The juxtaposition of these elements elicit narratives from a generation caught somewhere between the raw energy of an area rock show and the cool indifference of the screen age.

Jason Lahr received his M.F.A. in drawing and painting from Penn State University and his B.F.A. in painting from Clarion University. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Painting at the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, IN.
