Join us for an artist lecture by Rafael Villares.
Rafael Villares (b.1989) is a Cuban-born contemporary artist who works across various media, including sculpture, photography, drawing, and painting. Through researching the history of the Natural and Social Sciences, Villares’ practice centers around an exploration of landscape, highlighting the ways in which art and science intersect to shape and transform our understandings and perceptions of Nature.
Villares earned his degree from the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) in Havana and holds an MFA from the Yale University School of Art in New Haven, USA. He is currently the Head of the Sculpture Area and an Assistant Professor at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan.
