Living out a dream: Artistic immersion in London

In her application for the London Global Gateway, Rachel Mills’ described a daydream that she often had in South Bend. The fantasy scenario involved her exiting the tube station into Trafalgar Square, and walking the through crowds of buskers, commuters and tourists to reach her place of work: the National Gallery.

While a career at the National Gallery remains an ambition for Mills, her time in London brought her vision to life in more ways than she ever expected.

Nanovic Grant Recipient Receives Research Fulbright

Steven Lemke, a past recipient of the Snider Family Endowment for Excellence in European Studies, has been awarded a 2019-2020 U.S. Fulbright Open Study/Research Fellowship to Slovakia to explore the relationship between communal architecture and identity. Lemke, a 2019 Master of Fine Arts graduate in the Department of Art, Art History, and Design at the University of Notre Dame, received critical support by the Nanovic Institute for European Studies, and its Catholic Universities Partnership, during the rigorous application process.
