Biography
Elyse Speaks’ research and writing focus on the history of modern and contemporary sculpture with an emphasis on women artists. Her current research examines installation and gender in the 1990s, particularly as it intersects with forms of making that are often considered to be amateur, blue-collar, untrained, or craft. She is particularly interested in questions of value as they relate to everyday life and to the ways in which everyday forms of making might act as indices of value.
