Painter, writer, speaker, mixed media sculptor and performance artist Faith Ringgold will be giving the Henkels Series Lecture on February 20 at 7:00pm in the Annenberg Auditorium of the Snite Museum of Art.
Faith Ringgold is a painter, writer, speaker, mixed media sculptor and performance artist. She is especially well known for her painted story quilts, which blur the line between "high art" and "craft" by combining painting, quilted fabric, and storytelling. Faith lives and works in Englewood, New Jersey. She is professor emeritus at the University of California, San Diego where she taught art from 1987 until 2002. Professor Ringgold is the recipient of more than 75 awards including 22 Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts Degrees.
