The Crossroads Gallery for Contemporary Art presents Indefinite Spaces: 2014 Portfolio Exchange.
Indefinite Spaces opens April 28th at the Crossroads Gallery for Contemporary Art. The exhibition runs through July 1, 2014.
The exhibition showcases works by printmakers from Notre Dame to Kiev. This rich collection of prints according to Justin Barfield “investigates the ever-changing physical and psychological environment in which we inhabit.”
Barfield is the Research Associate for Printmaking at the University of Notre Dame. After observing how the ‘Great Recession’ has impacted not only the economy, but also the physical landscape of communities, he coordinated this exchange and curated this collection of work connecting that observation with how “artists have addressed these types of post-industrial landscapes as a symbol of the current state of infrastructure, as places deemed worthy of exploration, and as a place of nostalgia.”
Indefinite Spaces utilizes the art of printmaking with methods ranging from the traditional to the modern to the unexpected.
Please join us for the reception at the Crossroads Gallery on May 6th from 5-7 PM.
Crossroads Gallery is located on the main floor of the Notre Dame Center for Arts and Culture at 1045 West Washington Street in South Bend.
