Artist Lecture: Richard W. James

Richard James will give a public lecture On Tuesday, February 7th, 5:30-6:30pm, in room 200 of Riley Hall.

While on campus, Richard James will be demonstrating his methods for sculpting figures for his life-size sculptures during the Figure Sculpture class:

Tuesday, February 7, 3:30-5pm 
Thursday, February 9, 3:30-6:20pm

These demos will be in the main Sculpture studio space Riley Hall 105.  These sessions are open to the public and folks may come and go to see the process for a little while or for the duration of the demo.

Additionally, he will also be visiting graduate students and Ceramics I courses while continuing to build upon the figurative elements from the Figure Sculpture class demos.

Richard is a recipient of the 2016 International Sculpture Center’s Outstanding Student Achievement Awards In Contemporary Sculpture and a 2015 Zhenrutang Artist in Residence in Jingdezhen, China. He has also written for Ceramics: Art and Perception and Ceramics Monthly. Currently, Richard is an Artist in Residence at the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
