Carly Murphy, Vice President, Global Client Developer for Sotheyby's, will give a lecture on Friday, October 27, 2017, from noon to 1:30 pm in 215 Riley Hall of Art. The title of Carly Murphy's talk is "No Straight Lines: My Career in the New York Art World.” Lunch will be served.

Born in Philadelphia, Carly Murphy moved to New York City after graduating from the University of Notre Dame with a joint degree in Art History and French Literature. After completing a graduate course at the Sotheby's Institute of Art, Carly joined Sotheby's in 2003 working as the US liaison for the London-based Musical Instruments department. In 2005 Carly changed roles within Sotheby's and became an assistant vice president in Client Development for the contemporary art department, which she continues to do on a part time basis today. She rejoined Tim Ingles and Paul Hayday, now at Ingles & Hayday Ltd, in 2014 to work once again as a point of contact for their clients in the US. Carly resides northern New Jersey with her husband John and her two sons.
