Please join David Martin, IRR artist-in-residence, as he outlines the large scale oil painting project he is undertaking as part of his residency.
Based on unfinished sketches that George Winter an Indiana artist during the 1800s did of the Potawatomi people, Martin’s artistic vision is to develop this centuries-old sketch of a pow wow into a finished painting, depicting participants as if in the present day, using contemporary clothing design, current-day Pokagon tribe members, and modern esthetics.
