Course commences end of July with a 3-week travel component to India and continues over the Fall semester at Notre Dame. Students understand their role as designers/collaborators/ catalysts through real life experiences. Working with students from India in multi-disciplinary teams, the focus is on complex problems that balances strategic thinking with innovation. The goal is to understand these multifarious problems within a new paradigm and socio-economic parameter of a rapidly evolving country and its pluralistic culture and returning to Notre Dame with renewed and re-energized perspectives on those very same issues to examine and address them locally. Students must be enrolled in the Social Design course to participate in the travel abroad component.
