Upon returning to southern Indiana to attend Hanover College's 79th-annual Honors Convocation and attend the senior art majors’ thesis show gallery talks, University of Notre Dame Sculpture MFA and Visiting Professor Leticia Bajuyo discovered she was one of two professors selected as recipients of the 2016 Daryl R. Karns Award for Scholarly and Creative Activity.

Having joined the faculty at Hanover in 2001, Bajuyo explores perceptions of value associated with consumer capitalism and cultural capital, creating artworks that range in scale from palm-sized to the architectural. She teaches courses in art and design including sculpture, ceramics, and contemporary art practices.
