Micahlyn Allen shaves head to raise funds for cancer research

Author: Lonnie Atkinson

University of Notre Dame Senior in Graphic Design Micahlyn Allen will be participating in this year's Bald and Beautiful event, shaving her head to raise money for childhood cancer research.

“22 years ago, in March of 1990, my brother, Josh, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. 2 months later I was born. Although I don't remember anything from those first few years of my life that were spent in and out of hospitals, I know they were some of the most important years of my life because they were the years that decided whether or not I would ever get to know my older brother, who is now someone I can't imagine my life without.

In honor of Josh, I have decided to shave my head, in conjunction with the Bald and Beautiful event at Notre Dame through the Saint Baldrick's Foundation. This is my attempt to help raise funds that will contribute to the research that will hopefully one day ensure that every child is as fortunate as I was.

Anything you can donate will help, even if it's only a dollar or two, and I would really appreciate your support! Also, please feel free to invite anyone you think might be interested in this cause! If you would like to donate online, you can follow this link:
